Stella McCartney's Brighter Future
Not content with bringing mushrooms into the world of mainstream fashion, Stella McCartney follows her lauded ready-to-wear capsule composed of Mylo, a vegan, sustainable, fungi-based fabric, with a new edit of bio-based eyewear for Spring 2021, part of a long-term partnership with LVMH's resident optical experts, Thélios. "I love how progressive and optimistic this season feels," says the environmentally-focused British designer, revealing that the pressing need to consciously reduce fashion's use of plastic made from fossil fuels drove the designs. For those interested in the technical aspects, the UL-validated frames are created from bio-acetate, using organic carbon content derived from wood and cotton seeds alongside plant-based plasticizers, while the bio-lenses are formed from natural and renewable materials like castor oil. What's more, each pair comes with a vegan case and a cleaning cloth to help keep the bamboo tops and signature Falabella-inspired chains in their best condition. After all, it's not just beloved clothes that should be made to last, but accessories as well.
Stella McCartney Spring 2021 eyewear is now available at Stella McCartney stores worldwide and StellaMcCartney.com.
